This story is an older brother's perspective on brotherhood. He talks about how he feels he has to do all of the hard work like feeding and cleaning up after the dog while his little brother only has to play with the dog. He also mentions how frustrating it is to have his brother mess with his things and often break them. But then he talks about his brother's good qualities like helpfulness and loyalty and that when he goes off to camp he will actually miss him. The illustrations were created in pen and ink and colored in watercolor by a separate artist. They are colorful and give a nostalgic feeling. I enjoyed this simple story line from the view of the older brother. It was not overly negative so when you get to the positive qualities of the brother you are able to easily get over his failings and enjoy his best traits. This is a lovely story to share with boys who have little brothers as well as little boys who have older brothers. Advertized for ages 3-7.
