Those of you who have already seen Audition (2001) might be squirming in your seats and wondering why I'd ever recommend this film. Those of you who haven't seen it...you've been warned. If one of cinema's functions is to generate discussion and provide visuals you won't ever be able to forget, then this flick has nothing to be ashamed of. I can sum it all up in three words, "Kiri kiri kiri."

This is an interesting horror film that grips one's interest. The suspense builds until the final scenes of the film. Make sure your seat belt is fastened and hold on for the conclusion of the film.

A good introduction to the cult of Miike. Be prepared to take your time, but it's a classic horror storyline done well. If violence turns you off, it's not for you... or any other Takashi Miike movie for that matter.

Uber freaky. Just watch it and it will keep your mouth ajar. Horror in a way too good to be true version.

One of the most disturbing horror films I've ever seen. Based on a book. Recommended!

It really saves everything for the climax but it if a good story that takes one there, I do not know what the first comment by froste is all about, obiously if you read about the story or check out the special features first you are going to know what happens. She is oubiously no horror movie fan! It is a simple concept beutifuly delivered!

There is a very basic problem with this film. Namely, since we already know the denouement...that this broad is going to be the psycho biatch from hell, then the scrupulously undramatic first two thirds of the movie are a total waste. The fact that the commentators in the "special features" part of the disc (Eli Roth, John Landis, etc...) put so much stock in it is a direct result of its powerful "castration fantasy" assault. Funnily enough, there is no female voice to countermand the opinions of these scared little boys. (Including the director himself). Basically, this movie is heavily misogynist claptrap with some redeeming aesthetic values. Phooey.
