In this program the causes and effects of social inequality are studied. Ralph Garber (Dean, School of Social Work, University of Toronto) discusses poverty of the individual, especially the difficulties faced by seniors and single parents in our society. Sociologists James Sacouman (Acadia University) and Ralph Matthews (McMaster University) focus on regional disparities. The program includes a sociological debate between the structural functionalist and conflict theorist points of view on equality issues.
