Filled with description and judgement upon modern urban life (circa 1970), and aphoristic passages and wise insights; not much happens; much of the plot is comical; its also prescient:
"... future would bring excess, pornography, sexual abnormality." (pg. 58). The heart of the novel is the long conversation in chapter five.
1971 National Book Award - Fiction
