Kerney's first duty as Chief of Police is to investigate the fatal stabbing of a wealthy woman. The setting is New Mexico in the winter with its natural beauty. However, a priest is stabbed to death, and many witnesses are murdered. The murdering group has hi-tech tracking devices, so the police have to be furtive in their travel and communications. The plot is somewhat interesting, but the body count is far-fetched. Not McGarrity's best.
