My review on "The Corps of the Bare Boned Plane."

To start, this book didn't really satisfy me. It was very slow placed, boring and the characters were not developped very well. 133 pages into the novel, nothing much was going on. The whole "dead pilots" thing wasn't really happening much.
I was also surprised that this book was "The Official Selection" for the White Pine Award. Then again, there are more kids in the world with different oppinions.

The multiple points of view make this an interesting read. It's also quite funny and then rather sad at the same time. I liked it.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the wit and humour in this, plot-wise it was unfocused and didn't leave that much of a lasting impact. Which is a shame, because I sensed a lot of potential in this book to become something more poignant and memorable; there were a couple of parts in it that were quite beautiful. Unfortunately, the entire novel itself didn't get there for me.

A page turner with a delicious setting. When you're done reading this you'll be wanting your own remote island! Sadly, the setting beats out the characters and plot in excitement. There is a lot of potential for this story if these two things become more drawn out and detailed.

i think that more could have happened in the book.....the uncle was really strange and i think that something was missing.....the story could have had more to it

Very interesting story with some very thoughtful themes and ideas. However, as a novel it lacked unity. It felt like I was reading a collection of short stories about the same characters than one whole story. Events occurred suddenly and without warning. The book could have done with a bit more foreshadowing. The author should focus more on building and developing a few ideas instead of jumping all over the place and trying to cover so many points of view. Some very colorful characters though. Keep trying.

(spoken by non-native English speaking character)

"That is not love. To love, you make the pact with the universe that someday separated from this person you will be and destroyed by such loss but this you are willing to do, knowing that love comes at such a cost. If no other miracles we see, that we do this over and over, this agreement at such a price -- shain vi di zibben velten, heldish."
