Tells the shocking stories of more than three-dozen world-renowned scientists whose work refutes global warming hysteria and gives the lie to claims from Al Gore and co. that “the science is settled.” Author Lawrence Solomon—an internationally renowned environmentalist—shows these men have faced a vicious campaign of intimidation by those who, like Al Gore, seek to pervert science and silence dissent to advance their own political agenda. Some have been intimidated into silence. Others have seen their funding denied and their labs shut down as a result of political pressure. But the testimony of their work remains too powerful to deny.Extensively footnoted including URLs to crucial scientific papers (and lively e-mails detailing the inside politics of global warming) and lavishly illustrated with charts and graphs, The Deniers will do more than spark controversy. The Deniers is destined to become the most reliable and provocative source book on the real global warming debate.

Baker & Taylor
Highlights the work of leading scientists who dispute the commonly accepted alarmist view of global warming, in spite of threats to their careers.

Global warming is a question for citizens, not just scientists. We must decide how serious the threat is and what to do about it. But how can we settle the fiercely complicated scientific issues involved? Al Gore?s answer is to rely on the argument from authority. Accept the word of the great scientists who really know, who say that global warming is real, caused primarily by humans and will lead to catastrophe if unchecked. The science is settled, and those who dissent are either crackpots or crooks. Eminent environmentalist Lawrence Solomon was not satisfied with Gore's answer. He decided to find out whether any real scientists dissent from the Gore/U.N. line. What he found shocked him. Not only were there serious scientists who dissented on every headline global warming issue, but the dissenters were by far the more accomplished and eminent scientists.

I agree with Robertshallcross: "Why does this library carry so many baloney books written by con men?"--like this book!

Why does this library carry so many baloney books written by con men?

E.g., Freeman Dyson gave up serious research 50 years ago. He's 90. And not every idea he's had holds water. E.g., he once promoted atom bombs as a way to propel spacecraft. The rest of Solomon's "scientists" aren't "world-renowned"; they're either shills, geriatric, or both. E.g., S. Fred Singer used to work for P. Lorillard denying 2nd hand smoking had any negative health effects. And he keeps trying to falsify his wikipedia page on such nefarious activities.

This new edition to the 2008 book has a short new chapter in which the author deals with the recent developments regarding Climategate and the recently discovered IPPC blunders in its 2007 Report. Chapter 8 presents criticism by Freeman Dyson and Antonino Zichichi, questioning the confidence and validity of climate simulation forecasts, particularly regarding the use of parameterization or "fudge factors". The chief asset of this book is in warning about the danger of politicizing science, especially when funding and government centralization are key to the effort. (Interestingly, the “believers” have rechristened “global warming”: it is now “climate change”!) This is another excellent article on anthropogenic "global warming":

This book is beneath comment, so I won't but to the first comment which mentioned the Discovery Institute, isn't that located above a male gym? Wonder why?

I would denounce a book arguing in SUPPORT of the scientific consensus, that misrepresented the science and the scientists as much as this one does. False arguments don't do anybody's position any good. / Solomon's claim that reputable scientists question the consensus about climate change resembles the creationist claim that reputable scientists question the theory of evolution. There is real controversy and debate over SOME details: like whether evolutionary change has always been gradual or whether there are sudden jumps, or how high the seas may rise. The claim that all living species have one common ancestor and have evolved over time by natural selection, is NOT in question. The claim that global climate change is occurring at an unprecedented rate due to human activity is NOT in question. / Also see: Censoring Science, by Mark Bowen, and online references revealing Solomon's false claims about the scientists he interviewed: & / I do agree with Solomon on several things: cap-and-trade, ethanol, and dams are all bad ideas. Clear-cutting of old growth forest in order to raise corn for ethanol is especially heinous. We should end all government subsidies that support fossil-fuel energy profits.

I guess that if this book was written by "believers" it would be considered a wonderful book. Read it and decide for yourself--don't let the believers guide your quest for the truth. And consider this too:
