Book News
This work is part of a series of three child development handbooks adapted from the textbook The Young Child. Written for child care providers in any setting, the handbook is designed to be both a text on toddlers and a manual for working with toddlers. It overviews important theories of child development, and reviews current knowledge on how children learn, the long-term effects of early biological and psychological experiences on neurological development, the influence of culture in growth and development, and the impact of nurturing care on emotional development. Discussion questions are included, and the writing, examples with ongoing characters, and reader-friendly layout are accessible to all levels. The authors have each written or co-written four other books on early childhood issues. Puckett is professor emeritus at Texas Wesleyan University.
