Paul West is driving across the US in a Mini to promote the UK as Tourist Destination of the Year, and his car is to symbolize Britain's image in the world. But to Americans it looks cramped, and it feels cramped to Paul because he is sharing it with his French girlfriend and his American friend Jake. With France, China and the US in the running, national pride is at stake. But this is the least of Paul's problems. Soon his love life is looking like a war-zone. And as he should know better than anyone, when war is declared - merde happens.

Actually pretty funny...I could imagine it as a "Road Trip" movie

The third in this funny series, the first two are well worth a read...A year in the merde and Merde Actually are about the hilarious antics of an Englishman who opens a tea house in Paris. This, the third, has the character, Paul Ward, travel to the U.S. It was all funnier when it was set in Paris.
