A look at the special bond between people and animals includes essays and intimate photographs of animal lovers, including such celebrities as Carol Burnett and James Earl Jones, and their beloved pets.

Blackwell North Amer
A wonderful connection forms between people and the animals they love, and the essence of that magical bond is captured in this volume by renowned animal writer Roger A. Caras and award-winning photographer Shel Secunda.
This delightful collection is a celebration of that special relationship - whether between Mary Tyler Moore and her dogs, Oleg Cassini and his miniature horse, Misha Dichter and his English springer spaniel, or a woman named Karen and her alpaca. Caras's evocative essays are based on personal interviews in which these animal lovers share tales of childhood pets, sad losses, and joyful pairings.

Since discovering this book at the VPL I have recommended it to everyone who has lost a pet. It is a beautiful photo/journal of creatures from ants to elephants. It helped me and our granddaughter through the death of our 18.5 yr old much loved mutt. Bibliotherapy at its best.
