Book News Describes in detail a computer program called ProfGlot. Written in Prolog, and using the theory of Functional Grammar, it can produce linguistic expressions in English, French, and Dutch; parse sentences; translate in all six directions among the three languages; and draw certain logical inferences on the basis of a given expression. Thus it simulates some aspects of a trilingual speaker. The program is available from a company in Amsterdam. Annotation copyright Book News, Inc. Portland, Or.
