Miyazaki's appreciation of miraculous possibilities and childhood visions is what drives Totoro.

Sweet, charming, simple, and innocent. This has been one of my favorite movies since I was a child and continues to be one well into adulthood. Miyazaki can spin a tale that nails what its like to be a child and fall in love with the hidden magic in the world around you.

This is an amazing movie- very sweet and interesting, and also sure to be liked by everyone! I highly recommend it, especially for sleepovers or movie nights when you just want to watch fantasy or something along those lines. Studio Ghibli is amazing, so I recommend seeing the other movies by it!

A 1988 family favorite with fantasies for toddlers to grannies. For me, I fancy the cat-bus. Like the other Miyazaki's "Spirited Away 2001," the B/R English subtitle was improved, perhaps by Disney's translators, than its original VCR/DVD releases.

Sweet, happy-making, and gorgeous. This is a story that just leaves you in a good mood, told with truly beautiful art. Highly recommend!

Beautiful animation! Much of this movie is set in the Japanese countryside, and Studio Ghibli captures every nuance. Heartwarming, fantastic story with elements of fantasy. An all-time favorite!

The most famous Studio Ghibi movie besides Spirited Away. When two sisters move to rural Japan, they encounter a mystical forest filled with exciting creatures. Miyazaki created a true masterpiece with this film. It has everything a person, of any age, could want. There are points that it is hilarious, a few points where it makes one slightly nervous, the animation is outstanding (as with all Miyazaki films), and aside from lacking a little bit in plot, the story is wonderful. One of the things that makes this film shine, is that there is absolutely no antagonist role. No bad guy whatsoever, and really sets its fun, goody-goody tone.

Laughter therapy. My sister and I watched this film in the Japanese and were sad when it ended because we were so happy. As Miyazaki said, childhood from an earlier time.

Our family adores all of Miyazaki's films, but Totoro is our absolute favorite!! Watch it for the cross cultural family experience, the lingering innocence of childhood, and the magical realism that will steal your heart. Love, Love, Love.

Sexual Content: I don't know if you would count this, but a father and daughters are shown taking a bath together. It's not meant to be sexual, but they are naked (you don't see anything private, and it's not graphic; the more substantial nudity is covered with soap bubbles, etc.).
