Harry S. Truman Dedicates Preservation of Constitution and the Declaration of Independence Ca. 1951Unknown - 1951
Following the end of World War II, a new cold war began between the United States and the Soviet Union. At home, this conflict led to increasing signs of patriotism, investigations into anyone suspected of having communist ties, and a renewed emphasis on security. The Constitution and the Declaration of Independence were sealed into new containers that would help preserve them, and they were displayed as a symbol of American freedoms.
