Researchers at Trinity College Dublin are building a radio telescope called LOFAR on the grounds of Birr Castle. It will form part of a European satellite network allowing us to study a huge range of objects in the Universe, from exploding stars, to colliding galaxies, to the early evolution of the Universe.
