Adam Carolla, whose Adam Carolla Show set a Guinness World Record for the most downloaded podcast of all time, discusses the lawsuit he's facing from a "patent troll." (According to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, "A patent troll uses patents as legal weapons, instead of actually creating any new products or coming up with new ideas.") The company suing Carolla claims intellectual ownership of the idea of "a system for disseminating media content representing episodes in a serialized sequence." In other words, the company claims to own the very idea of podcasting, despite never having produced a podcast itself. Carolla believes that if he bows out of the fight by settling, the entire future of podcasting may be at stake. So, he's started a "Save Our Podcasts" campaign to fight back.
