Great formative Surrealist flick.

This film is one big flip of the middle finger to everyone, especially the Catholic church when it premiered in 1930. Essentially a silent film with some sound, the screenplay is by both Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali and directed by Bunuel. There's not much plot to speak of but a collection of surreal images. It was banned originally and shocked people and for good reason. Lets face it, toe sucking is basically pornography and before that there's hand sucking. You can see how other 'bad boy' directors such as Ken Russell got some of their inspiration. For film geeks, this is a must see but definitely have some mind altering substances on hand, or at least a good drink.
