Dr. Schön (to Alwa, after getting caught cheating on his fiancée in a dressing room with Lulu): "...Now I'll marry Lulu! It'll be the death of me!"
Prosecutor (monocled, with a nasty scar on his face, at Lulu's murder trial): "...Your Honors and gentlemen of the jury! The Greek gods created a woman -- Pandora. She was beautiful and charming, and versed at the art of flattery." (Lulu flashes a flirtatious smile at the prosecutor, who pauses, flustered) "But the gods also gave her a box containing all the evils of the world. The heedless woman opened the box, and all evil was loosed upon us. ...Counsel, you portray the accused as a persecuted innocent. I call her Pandora, for through her all evil was brought upon Dr. Schön!"
Comment
Add a CommentAn engrossing, decadent 'riches to rags' saga of an innocent, beautiful nymphet, whose only transgression was her seductive captivating allure. And Lulu inadvertently burned (most of) those moths drawn to her flame. Wonderful lighting, and/or lack thereof, and accompanying score (I selected the orchestral option). Louise Brooks and her bobbed haircut had an incredible smile that could light up a room. Gorgeous woman. And sadly, her life imitated this piece of art, to a certain degree (see companion disk biography). I will say the ending of this film came out of left field, though... I couldn't believe who she ended up with, whilst Alwa stood by... (Don't worry, I'm not gonna spoil it) FIVE STARS.
