John Dillinger was one of the most notorious bank robbers of the 1930s. In 1934 the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), under the direction of J. Edgar Hoover, staked out a theater in Chicago where Dillinger was watching a movie with two female friends. Unknown to Dillinger, however, one of those friends had betrayed his current location to the FBI. Dillinger was killed in the shootout.
