Just a budding, 16-year-old shutterbug at the time - Future film-director, Stanley Kubrick would go on to work exclusively for "Look" magazine for 5 solid years (1945-1950).

Though the significance of Kubrick's work at "Look" was generally ignored at the time - Today (in 2013), author and professor of media studies, Philippe Mather meticulously traces links between Kubrick's photojournalism days to his illustrious career as one of the most admired and respected film-makers of his (or, any other) generation.

Mather demonstrates (in minute detail) how working at "Look" fostered Kubrick's emerging talent for combining images and words in order to tell a story on film.

With this well-researched book - Mather has branched out (further than most) to give the reader a better understanding of what exactly it was that drove Kubrick to eventually produce the films that he did.

*Note* - The one thing that I thought this book was in short supply of was photos (showing, in a much greater volume, Kubrick's overall output at "Look" magazine).
