Making metal parts by plasticly deforming sheet metal is cheap and quick, but increasingly sophisticated methods are being used to speed up the design of tools to make specific parts, such as computer-aided design, manufacturing, and engineering. Of particular use, however, is finite element analysis, which is therefore mentioned in each appropriate chapter. The first volume sets out fundamentals, considering such topics as classifying and describing sheet metal forming operations, materials for sheet forming, principles of sheet forming presses, and electromechanical servo-drive presses. The second volume is devoted to processes and applications, such as process simulation, hot stamping, tube hydroforming, and incremental sheet forming. The two volumes are paged and indexed separately. Annotation ©2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
