Age Group: Middle Age to Young Adult

Cliché? ★☆☆☆☆
Nope, this book, or any of Rick's works, is seen to me as cliché.

Mythology/Creatures: Norse gods and goddesses, valkeries, mundanes, and einherjars.

Romance:★★★★☆ (3.5)
As this is a middle age to young adult book the romance was very innocent (which I prefer for this age group!). The romantic relationships that grew in this trilogy was sweet, cute, and with typical hardships (placed in the frame in the supernatural-Norse world). I will say I loved how Riordan displayed the many forms of relationships as to not discriminate or cast prejudice.

Mystery: ★☆☆☆☆
For me this series was not mysterious as it was suspenseful.

Angst:★★★☆☆ (2.5)
Just dashes spread throughout. A perfect balance in my mind as to not go over board or become annoying in the main storyline.

Suspense: ★★★☆☆
I felt the suspense value was placed throughout this trilogy. It was not a major theme, no, Rick spent more time focusing on how to bring to life the Norse mythology storyline.

Character Development: ★★★★★
This is one of Riordan's strengths. Bringing to life characters that jumped out of the pages. He didn't add any unnecessary characters to muck up the storyline or to cast confusion on introducing too many at a time. My favorite character throughout this series was Alex, the child of Loki.

Continue?☆☆☆☆☆ (-1)
Sadly, this is the last book in this trilogy. Now I am playing the waiting game for the next book to be published in the ToA series. I have read all his other mythology books. My only choice in the mean time is to read his 'Riordan Presents' book series.

"The Hammer of Thor" is the second book of another incredible Rick Riordan book series. In this series, it was fascinating to see the development of many of the main characters like Alex Fierro and Samirah, a change in his normal writing style but not uninvited. Another thing that has changed is the gods. In this series, we found ourselves with the Norse gods instead of the Greek's making these books very different than his previous works. Though very different, I would recommend this series to readers who enjoyed "The Trials of Apollo" or the "The Kane Chronicles". Or people who just like reading about Norse mythology.

I love how Rick Riordan took complicated issues (i.e. gender fluidity, disabilities, etc. ) and turned them simply funny. And I also love how Alex and Magnus fell in love *heart*.

Seriously Rick, I know everything has to be politically correct now, but do Alex Fierro and Magnus have to fall in love?????

A little predictable, but with the introduction of new characters and the set up for the finale, I feel like the next book could be pretty exciting

Thor's hammer is missing again. The thunder god has a disturbing habit of misplacing his weapon--the mightiest force in the Nine Worlds. But this time the hammer isn't just lost, it has fallen into enemy hands. If Magnus Chase and his friends can't retrieve the hammer quickly, the mortal worlds will be defenseless against an onslaught of giants. Ragnarok will begin. The Nine Worlds will burn. Unfortunately, the only person who can broker a deal for the hammer's return is the gods' worst enemy, Loki--and the price he wants is very high.

"I have never been able to convince him that the line isn't cheese graters gonna grate, grate,
