Design for the Soft Surface

Throwing, Handbuilding and Slip Decorating

DVD - 2013
Rate this:
Ben Carter's pottery is uniquely influenced by his American and Chinese travels. In this DVD Mr. Carter demonstrates soft-sculpted forms with respect to compositional arrangments influenced by Chinese techniques and America's southern hospitality, as inspired by pillows, tufted furniture and quilts. Demonstrations integrate surface design, layered slips and underglazes with altered handbuilding and wheel throwing; complemented by decorative sgraffito, slip trailing and painting techniques.
