A Life LivedUnknown - 1981
The film begins in 1970 with Guston's controversial exhibition in which the artist's new paintings abandon all connection with his work of the past 20 years, during which time he was recognized as one of the most celebrated non-representational painters in New York. Filmed during the last 10 years of Guston's life, this portrait documents the development of his work from figurative paintings to abstract and back to figurative.
