"Snow blankets the avenues of Manhattan's exclusive Upper West Side. The storm is the perfect cover for a fashionable, highly trained team of lethal assassins as they prowl the streets, hunting their prey. But their hit is simply target practice. Their next mission may very well turn the Cold War red-hot once again. Stepping directly into the line of fire, the president of the United States is in New York for a summit at the United Nations with his Russian counterpart. Pulled away from his family and pressed into service, Detective Michael Bennett must race the source of a threat that could rip the country apart-and ignite a war the likes of which the world has never seen. With allegiances constantly in doubt and no one above suspicion, only Bennett can save the president-and the country-before the assassins' deadly kill shot hits its mark."

I’m liking the Michael Bennett series better than any of the other Patterson series. This one continued to make me want more. Good plot and storyline.

Once again New York City Detective Michael Bennett is in the thick of it. He finds himself as a spotter, more than once actually, in a helicopter as security for a Presidential visit to the United Nations. And then he sees something. Once again, the Russian government is upset but is it planning to go all the way and assassinate the President of the US? Imagine the implications. This is a tale of uncertainties, who is the potential assassin? Who are his handlers? Is the Russian mob in New York involved? At one point a federal adviser says that the Russian mob at home and the Russian government are one and the same. The action comes fast and furious, sometimes the leads are extraneous or diversions, but Bennett keeps going. You'll wonder if you will ever know the meaning of the title. As usual Michael's huge family and Mary Catherine are delightful distractions.

Vintage Patterson; almost every known cliche, still, a reallly good shoot-'em-up get the sniper before he kills the pres. Better than average Patterson.

A fun read. It moves quickly. A bit disturbing on the issue of assassinating U. S. citizens with just a signature from the president. The story of the Black student being involved with a drug dealer seemed more filler. But the assassin chasing an assassin - not bad.
