A debut novel, profound and funny. Step in to the life of Pacy, a young Taiwanese American as she finds herself.

Even though this is a work of fiction, Grace Lin based her novels on her experiences growing up as a Taiwanese American. Both my daughter, a Chinese American, and I, an immigrant from China, love her work. I highly recommend this book and 'The Dumpling Day' by the same author to all parents who have ABC (American born Chinese) kids. Both novels are about searching for and accepting one's identity.

This book was not my type of book.It was a quick read and was very poor in catching the readers mind. I would not reccomend this book for anybody to read but you might want to try it because you never know.... you may like it.

Grace Lin is a Taiwanese-American girl (the only asian girl in her school) and this story is about her life during the year of the dog and what happens to her. Perfect if you feel just like her. I loved it!!!
