She’s young, tough and determined to solve a fifty-year-old crime. Detective Aimee Leduc soon finds herself embroiled in a dangerous game of current politics and old war crimes. Neo-nazi punks, Jewish rabbis and the ancient streets of Paris make for non-stop action in this impressive debut mystery.

Interesting start to a series. Set in contemporary Paris, this story has its roots in the not too distant past. Looking forward to reading more Aimee's adventures.

Fans of mysteries in exotic locals will gravitate to Cara Black's Aimee Leduc Investigations, which begins with Murder in the Marais. The story is character-driven introducing both major and minor characters in great detail, but not always following through. Black weaves a great deal of French words into the story. Readers unfamiliar with the French language may find this distracting and confusing. In many places, the French was hard to decipher out from the context of the sentence or paragraph. Overall, I believe this will be a popular title with mystery readers who like a bit of history and back story.
