I adore Capaldi as the Doctor, absolutely love him. I know many people don't care for him because he's not as light as the last two doctors, but I love his grumpiness. He's a cross between the 9th Doctor (who had always been my favorite) and Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock. The 9th Doctor now has some competition.
I think people forget that grumpy old men are generally softies. And honestly I think there's a bit of ageism that goes on against him after the last Doctors. The one argument people might give against this season that I'd agree with is that Capaldi doesn't get the best writing. But that's not on him. He works well with what he gets, making me able to forgive most of that.
I like Clara as well. I see another commenter preferred Amy, but Amy grated slightly on my nerves. Just goes to show that if someone tried "Doctor Who" once they should try it again with someone else. S/he may just need a different combo in order to get hooked.
I really liked David Tennant as the Doctor and wish we could get those Dr. Who's into the Library. Perhaps the Library can find a "sponsor" to pay for more of these other seasons of this great series.
I haven't finished the 8th series but I'm finding Peter C's Doctor is harder to get into than our last two wonderful Doctor's. Hoping I get over that.
Jenna Coleman good, but not really up to Amy's extraordinary standard. I loved the concept of the "impossible girl" but that seems to have evaporated boo-hoo.
Doctor who is an amazing series. I recommend it. The current doctor is being played by Peter capaldi, and he is a pretty complex guy. He is one of my favorites (David Tennant is da best) so yeah. Doctor Who is good so WATCH IT!
