This writer thinks he can read animals minds and kills a perfectly healthy dog ... NOT RECOMMENDED TO READ THIS BOOK IF YOU ARE AN ANIMAL LOVER .. I have read every one of his book This man is neurotic ,,He thinks he can read an animals mind.. In every one of his books an animals dispatched after he writes a book about it,, Everything on his farm gets sick, becomes neurotic, and either is euthanized or taken out back and dispatched with a shot gun . All his animals become tiresome, but are milked one more time in death, until a new one is acquired and the cycle begins anew .just to find a new subject for his books,, .Dont believe me read these ..Any man who thinks his animals are telling him to kill them is neuritic.. , Some of these articles are wrote by the border collie association .Click on these…/1872515-jon-katz-s-status-dog-ex………/1872515-jon-katz-s-status-dog-ex……/bedlam-farms-jon…

If you are familiar with Bedlam farm, this book is the tale of how it becomes less hectic. For those not familiar, it parallels the life of an abused, wild dog to the development of love between 2 lost people. The gentling of the dog works along with the people as they get closer. It is a little slow towards the end as you can see the inevitable ending but, it is good story, well written illustrations allowing one to get lost in the farm and what it looks, feels and smells like. Worth the read, and you feel good at the end.

Fair warning - this book is not as much a book about a dog as it is about the Author's life. His struggles with anxiety, his divorce, meeting a new love interest, etc. About a 1/3rd of the book is dedicated to writing about the dog.
It was an ok read, but I found myself skipping over parts where the author seemed to become a bit self-indulgent in his story-line. In his favor, what he did share about himself seemed to come from a vulnerable and honest place.
