Although somewhat intriguing and magical, 'Born of Illusion' suffers from awkward moments and some unrealistic character changes. Anna is a decent protagonist but seems to change her opinion/personality all the time, going from loving to hateful to passionate to snappy. Maybe that's the way the author intended her to be, but it's a bit discomfiting. Additionally, there is a love triangle—which are completely overused in YA literature and completely irritating. Overall it was a good book, pretty decent, but not spectacular or amazing. I wouldn't read it again, but I would recommend it as a mostly solid piece of YA fiction.

Loved the story but i'm not particularly a fan of how Anna's mother kept shafting her in her shows. That's not cool. Still good though.
