"Director Jodie Foster dishes up a "heaping helping of holiday hilarity" (NBC-TV) with this laugh-out-loud comedy from screenwriter W.D. Richter about family food and finding acceptance with the people you love. Home For The Holidays is a "wickedly funny" film that's "so true it hurts" ("Entertainment Today")! In a span of 36 hours, Claudia Larson (Hunter) has managed to lose her job, make out with her boss and learn that her daughter (Danes) is planning to go all the way. But Claudia's fortunes actually take a turn for the worse when she flies home to endure an even more grueling trial: The family Thanksgiving! Beset by a neurotic mother (Bancroft), kooky father (Durning), eccentric brother (Downey, Jr.) and compulsively "normal" sister (Stevenson), Claudia struggles to maintain her calm. But as sparks fly, tempers flare and turkeys go airborne, Claudia manages to recapture the zaniness of her childhood and discover them most important things in life are the memories she shares with family… and for that, she can only be thankful!"--Container.

Jodie Foster directed this gem, which is the absolute best Thanksgiving movie (yes, even better than Planes, Trains and Automobiles). The writing and ensemble cast are fantastic, portraying family dysfunction at its finest. I watch it every year. Home for the Holidays is rated PG-13 for thematic material, language and brief drug use.

Yikes awful movie. I read some glowing reviews on Amazon saying it was a yearly ritual for them to watch, but I don't see how they could stand to. I watched through to the end hoping for something to make me laugh. There aren't many Thanksgiving shows, but there are more than enough dysfunctional holiday movies. It's been overdone. Pieces of April did this one so much better.

Couldn't get myself to care about the main character at all after 20 minutes or so and couldn't bring myself to watch the rest unfortunately. I need a character I want to root for and she wasn't living up to it.

Not one of my favorite movies, but I thought there were some good parts to it. This movie is a portrayal of the typical dysfunctional American family and the ritual reunion of Thanksgiving. Not a must see by any means, but worth a watch.

Claudia: Nobody means what they say on Thanksgiving, Mom. You know that. That's what the day's supposed to be all about, right? Torture.

Henry Larson: Well, opinions are like a**holes, honey. Everybody's got one and everybody thinks everybody else's stinks.

Adele: I'm giving thanks that we don't have to go through this for another year. Except we do, because those bastards went and put Christmas right in the middle, just to punish us.

Joanne: You're calling me a freak?
Tommy: No, I'm calling you a product of baboon lovin'. There's a distinction.
