Simon and Schuster
#1 New York Times bestselling author and “queen of royal fiction” (USA TODAY) Philippa Gregory weaves a spellbinding tale of a young woman with the ability to see the future in an era when destiny was anything but clear.

Winter, 1553. Pursued by the Inquisition, Hannah Green, a fourteen-year-old Jewish girl, is forced to flee with her father from their home in Spain. But Hannah is no ordinary refugee; she has the gift of “Sight,” the ability to foresee the future, priceless in the troubled times of the Tudor court. Hannah is adopted by the glamorous Robert Dudley, the charismatic son of King Edward’s protector, who brings her to court as a “holy fool” for Queen Mary and, ultimately, Queen Elizabeth. Hired as a fool but working as a spy; promised in wedlock but in love with her master; endangered by the laws against heresy, treason, and witchcraft, Hannah must choose between the safe life of a commoner and the dangerous intrigues of the royal family that are inextricably bound up with her own yearnings and desires.

Teeming with vibrant period detail and peopled by characters seamlessly woven into the sweeping tapestry of history, The Queen’s Fool is a rich and emotionally resonant gem from a masterful storyteller.

I think this was my favourite book by Phillipa Gregory after the Other Boleyn Girl. Although Hannah is not a real character, her story mixed in with historical story is soo good. I love it. I have read this book three times already and will probably read it again :)

I had just finished reading Philippa Gregory's latest book, so decided to read this which followed right on the heals of that in history. Such good timing since I was already familiar with the royal fool, Will Somers, from The Taming of the Queen.

This novel intrigued me because, though I've read several historical fiction books concerning the machinations of various figures of English royalty, I've never heard of Hannah. And, it turns out, for good reason. It's still a good read, but I'm so used to Gregory's main characters being "real" people that I was deeply disappointed to discover the truth behind Hannah's life.

I really enjoyed this book. I started reading it just to have something to read. It kept me entertained up to the end. This time in history has always fascinated me and I'm glad to be able to learn more of the relationship between Mary and Elizabeth through it.

A story that shows the hardship of being Jewish during Bloody Mary's terrifing reign.

I thought this book was okay. Wasn't my favorite of the series by Philippa Gregory, but was pretty good. The story of Hannah the Fool was interesting and was a good backdrop to show the relationship between Mary and Elizabeth after their father and brother's deaths.
